A VIP Experience: Hospitality at Reading FC

Last weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to experience hospitality in the Royals Suite at Reading FC during their match against Harborough Town. As a massive football fan who also loves a bit of luxury, this was a day to remember. From the moment we arrived to the final whistle, every detail was perfect, showing why Reading’s hospitality is among the best. Let me take you through my unforgettable day!

The Grand Arrival: First Impressions of the Select Car Leasing Stadium

Walking up to the Select Car Leasing Stadium is always exciting, but this time it was extra special. Instead of heading to the usual turnstiles, we were directed to the exclusive hospitality entrance. The difference was immediate. As soon as we stepped inside, everything felt premium. The polished floors, friendly smiles from the staff, and a relaxed atmosphere made it clear this was going to be no ordinary match day.

The buzz from the crowd outside carried through, but here, it was all about comfort. It felt like stepping into a football dream – one where you’re treated like a VIP.

Welcome Drinks and Warm Vibes

The experience kicked off with a welcome drink. The adults were offered champagne, while I happily enjoyed a fresh orange juice. The hospitality lounge was spacious but cosy, with big windows overlooking the pitch, where the players were warming up.

The staff were brilliant, making us feel like we belonged from the get-go. It wasn’t just about the luxury; it was about how friendly and welcoming everyone was. You could sense that they wanted everyone to have a brilliant time, whether you were a first-time visitor or a seasoned guest.

Food Fit for Royalty: The Pre-Match Dining Experience

If you think football food is just pies and chips, think again. The meal in Reading’s hospitality suite was a feast to remember. We had a proper roast dinner, the kind that makes your Sunday lunch look average. There were crispy roast potatoes, tender chicken, perfectly golden Yorkshire puddings, creamy cauliflower cheese, and the richest, most delicious gravy you can imagine.

It wasn’t just about the food either; it was the atmosphere. Fans from all walks of life were sharing stories and excitement for the game. It felt like being part of a big football-loving family, all united in cheering for Reading.

And the best part? You didn’t have to queue or rush through your meal – it was all served in a calm and friendly environment. It made you feel like you were part of something truly special.

We were also treated to a Q&A session with an ex Reading player, Lawrie Sanchez. Obviously a bit before my time, however the was there was talk of how he scored with winning goal for Wimbledon in 1988 against Liverpool.  We had a chance to chat 1-2-1 with Laurie, who recommended that i checked out his goals on YouTube. Luke, one of my grassroots football coaches is a diehard Wimbledon fan, so i will need to quiz him all bit Lawrie as a footballer.

The Best Seats in the House

After the meal, we made our way to our seats, which were nothing short of incredible. Positioned near the halfway line, they gave us a perfect view of the pitch. Unlike the usual plastic seats, these were plush, padded, and oh-so-comfy. Trust me, you notice the difference when you’re watching a full 90 minutes (or 120 minutes as we were for this match!!

As kick-off approached, the atmosphere was electric. Harborough Town, being underdogs, had their fair share of supporters, but Reading fans were loud and proud. Seeing the players line up from such a great vantage point made me appreciate how much effort goes into every aspect of a match. Within hospitality there was a nice mix of home and away fans. There was plenty of light banter and friendly chats throughout the match.

Halftime Indulgence

When halftime arrived, we headed back to the suite for dessert – and what a treat it was! There was warm apple pie with custard, a classic dessert done to perfection. It felt so comforting after an action-packed first half, and I even managed to sneak an extra helping of custard (shh, don’t tell!).

While everyone else was chatting about the game so far, I took a moment to look around. You could see how much effort Reading put into their hospitality service. It wasn’t just about football; it was about making memories that last a lifetime.

Post-Match Drinks and Reflections

After the final whistle, the experience didn’t just stop. We headed back to the lounge for some post-match drinks and snacks. The atmosphere was more relaxed now, with fans talking about the highs and lows of the match. People were congratulating Harborough Town for their effort and celebrating Reading’s solid performance.

It was the perfect way to wind down. Sitting there, sipping on my drink and looking out at the emptying stadium, I felt so lucky to have been part of such a special day.

To my surprise we were then joined by Chem Campbell who was awarded the man of the match award in front of us, as we could speak to him afterwards about the match.

Why Reading FC Hospitality Stands Out

If you’re considering upgrading your match-day experience, let me tell you why Reading’s hospitality is worth it:

1.Warm Welcome: From the moment you arrive, the staff go above and beyond to make you feel like a VIP.

2.Amazing Food: Forget fast food – the meals here are high-quality, beautifully prepared, and perfect for football fans who love a touch of luxury.

3.Comfortable Seating: The seats are a dream – spacious, cushioned, and offering the best views in the stadium.

4.Exclusive Atmosphere: The hospitality lounge makes you feel like part of a special club, surrounded by other fans who love the game just as much as you do.

An Experience for Everyone

What I loved most about this day was how it wasn’t just for the adults. Sometimes, you think “hospitality” might be a bit too fancy, but Reading FC knows how to make it fun and welcoming for younger fans too. From the drinks to the desserts to the friendly smiles, everything felt perfect.

Final Thoughts

If you ever get the chance to enjoy hospitality at Reading FC, don’t think twice. It’s the ultimate way to combine the thrill of football with the comfort of a premium experience. From the incredible food to the perfect seats, it’s a day out that leaves you with unforgettable memories.

For me, the best part wasn’t just the luxury – it was how it made me feel like part of the Reading FC family. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want to treat yourself, this is the way to do it.

Thank you Tim and the team in the Royals Suite for a fantastic experience that will live with me for a very long time.
