It was a tough night for Reading as they lost 4-1 to Stockport County at Edgeley Park in a Sky Bet League One game on Tuesday.
Reading started off strong, aiming for their fourth win in a row. In the first ten minutes, they were pushing hard, but Stockport quickly took control. Their star, Louie Barry, almost scored with a shot from 25 yards, but it just missed.
Reading had their chances too! Adrian Akande put pressure on Stockport’s defense, nearly breaking through, but his touch was just a little too heavy. Then, Reading almost got a touch on a low cross from a corner, but Stockport’s goalie was on it.
Things took a turn in the 19th minute when Will Collar scored a deflected shot, putting Stockport ahead. Reading’s defense left him with a bit too much space, and he made them pay.
Just when it seemed like Stockport was in charge, Reading pulled off a fantastic team goal. They passed it all over the field, starting on the left, then moving to the backline, and finally up to Harvey Knibbs, who set up Campbell for the goal. The fans went wild, but only for a few minutes. Stockport came right back with a header from Kyle Wootton off a free kick, taking the lead again.
Things got worse when Stockport earned a penalty in the 41st minute after a foul in the box. Louie Barry took the shot and scored, putting Stockport up 3-1 by halftime.
In the second half, Reading tried to rally. They made a few substitutions, but Stockport’s defense was rock-solid. Despite some good passing from Reading, they couldn’t break through. Stockport then added a fourth goal in the 68th minute, with Barry scoring again from close range.
In the end, Reading couldn’t come back, and Stockport walked away with a big win. Reading will look to bounce back this Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup against Fleetwood Town.
